feedback from AGM
A few items of feedback from the AGM held on 19th May 2008.
- A new steward was elected, Simon Raw; it was also noted that Anne Smurthwaite will take a sabbatical from her steward’s duties later in the year. For a full list of office holders see the church noticeboard.
- There was a positive finance report, although it was noted that some of the community worker grants were for a period of three years and these will run out this autumn.
- Andrew informed the meeting that Colin Marchment would be candidating for the ministry. This has come after a long period of prayerful reflection. The meeting congratulated Colin on this news and offered support and prayers. The process takes a considerable time and we are not yet aware of how it will affect Colin’s role with us.
- There was a general discussion on worship and the following positive suggestions were made which will be considered:
- More congregational participation
- Time for questioning preacher or discussion services
- Using projector and music to create a worshipful pre-worship atmosphere
- Perhaps use other service times to attract non-church families
- Redefine praise services
- Have children come in at end of service and give feedback on what they have been doing
- Emphasise prayer provision at end of the service
